In current versions of MuseScore, you can also delete portions of measures, so the Delete Selected Measures has been renamed Remove Selected Range, and it has been moved to the new Tools menu. There is also a new command Tools / Remove Empty Trailing Measures that automatically deletes empty measures at the end of a score.
